Primrose seniors spread cheer for ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ day

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- It’s national ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ day and a group of local senior citizens set out to spread some kindness today.
Primrose Retirement Communities across the country go to their local colleges to do a kind act. The seniors from the Zanesville location set up shop outside of Elson Hall at OUZ handing out goodies to unsuspecting students.
“We always like our residents to be able to reach out into the community and do community projects. This is just another way of getting our name out there and getting the residents used to being out in the community. They love every minute of it,” said Tammy Grayson the Life Enrichment Coordinator at Primrose Retirement Community in Zanesville.
The seniors handed out 60 small bags filled with snacks — some even had Amazon gift cards in them. The seniors said their goal was simply to put a smile on someone else’s face.
“It was nice. It was inviting. You know and once I figured out what the gift was for just random kindness, you know, you never know something so small that you can do for somebody. What an impact it makes on their day. So walking out and receiving it and I mean I’ve been smiling since I got it. So it made me feel good,” said OUZ Nursing Student Destiny Byrd.
Some of the students were so appreciative they gave the seniors hugs in return.
