Princess Blessings prom dress give away kicks off this weekend

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- For the last 5 years one organization has been giving away new and gently used prom dresses for teen girls in need.

While the Princess Blessings prom dress give away kicks off this Saturday, we spoke with founder, Becky Clawson about her passion behind the event.

“I would never want a young lady to miss out on this experience just because she couldn’t afford a dress. We simply provide the dress and sometimes the accessories, shoes makeup and sometimes the whole thing. We really just want her to leave there that day feeling that she is enough, she is worthy and she is special. so we just want to provide that for them,” said founder, Becky Clawson.

Clawson originally started this program as a way to give back to girls in the local community based off her own personal experiences growing up. She says she hopes to inspire others through her act of community service.

“If there’s something on your heart that you really want to do, I just want to stress that this is easy, you don’t have to make it complicated. There really are people out there in the community that think just like you that will pitch in and help you so hopefully this inspires people to get up and do something and make a change in the community,” said Clawson.

The event kicks off this Saturday at The Salvation Army from 10:00 A.M-  2:00 P.M.  Clawson hopes to give away over 200 dresses to girls in need. For more information you can check out the Princess Blessings Facebook page.
