Putnam Jams on Saturday

Putnam Landing sounded off August 29 with the first edition of ‘Putnam Jam’

Area churches gathered to host the event full of music, games, prizes and a prayer tent for those interested. Event Coordinator Rick Tanner said he’s happy to see the church community come together for the day.

“All of us churches coming together and reaching out to the community from our Lord and savior,” said Tanner. “It feels tremendous. I get goose bumps just thinking about it because I feel the spirit of god but you know we have so much going on here.”

The event kicked off bright and early at 8 a.m. and ran through 8 p.m. Crowds gathered to hear gospel, rock, hip-hop and more. Tanner said he hopes this isn’t the last this community will see of the collaboration between churches and there will be more jamming in the future.

“We need to come together as one body of Christ,” said Tanner. “You know that’s what we are. Yeah, we have our churches, is a part of the body of Christ but when we all come together it is still one body of Christ. I think that everybody you see, I mean we got a big program all throughout the day. Everybody’s willing and I think it’s no choice but to keep on going forward.”

A portion of the road near the landing was closed temporarily for the event.
