Quality Care Partners Celebrate National Employee Health & Fitness Day

ZANESVILLE – Quality Care Partners (QCP) invited employers and employees to downtown Zanesville Wednesday afternoon to participate in National Employee Health and Fitness Day (NEHFD).

NEHFD was created to help promote the benefits of physical activity for employees through their work site health promotion activities.

Brooke Smith, QCP Population Health and Wellness Specialist, said that most people spend around 10 hours a day sitting, not including sleep and that they don’t get nearly the amount of physical activity they need throughout the day.

“A lot of us have sedentary lifestyles. Being able to go out and walk on your lunch break can give you that little boost you need to get through the remainder of your day and reenergize you to help you be a little more productive at work,” Smith said.

In efforts of raising awareness and helping people stay active, the American Heart Association will be hosting its Annual HeartChase event in Zanesville, Saturday, May 21st, at Genesis Health Care System.

Jenny Peshina, Development Strategies Vice-President, American Heart Association, said the event would be a lot of fun and very helpful to those who want to have a healthier lifestyle.

“It is the fourth year of the event and its presented by Genesis Health Care System. It’s going to take place at the Genesis Campus outside the physician pavilion entrance. Check in is at 8:30 a.m. and the fun games will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., so everyone will be done by noon,” Peshina said.
