Ways to Help Hurricane Victims this Weekend

Hurricane Helene

Zanesville, OH- One week ago Hurricane Helene sent many small rivers and streams rising over their banks, causing catastrophic flooding in many mountain communities in the Southeastern United States.

This weekend two events will help those ravaged by these storms.

The Muskingum County Speedway will be collecting bottled water, non-perishable foods, cleaning supplies and hygiene products to deliver to the Northeast Tennessee Disaster Relief Center.

Members of the Muskingum County Speedway staff will be at the facility this Saturday with two U-Haul trucks ready to be loaded before racing action roars to life later in the afternoon. Gates will open at 2 p.m.

The Muskingum County Speedway is located at 7985 Frazeysburg Road Dresden OH, 43821. For more information you can call the track at (740) 891-8789.

A second collection will take place at the Winerak and Hardwick’s Funeral Home on Maple Avenue on Saturday from 9am-2pm.

At this drop off they would like

  • Baby items-formula, diapers, wipes and clothing
  • Personal Hygiene Items
  • Kitchen Items
  • Non-perishable food
  • Cleaning Supplies

The plan is to pack a U-Haul and take the items to help support those in Erwin, Tennessee on Wednesday.
