Rachel Murphy

Rachel M. Murphy, 81 of Newark, died 5:40 PM, Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was born Saturday, May 16, 1942, in Zanesville, the daughter of John H. Miller, Sr. and Mary A. (Logan) Miller.

Rachel loved to bake, cook and garden, she was known to take folks in and to care and feed anyone. Rachel loved old western movies, and reading, especially the bible. She held the Lord close to her heart.

Rachel was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family, extended family and friends. Rachel had a kind gentle heart, opening her heart and home to any child or adult who needed a meal, a bed or love.

Rachel is survived by five children, Zelda Rachel Murphy, Babe R. (Rebecca) Murphy, Timothy Quinn Murphy, Rebeckah Ann (Saviour) Gadagbui and David A. Murphy; one sister-in-law, Brenda Miller; fifteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and host of friends.

In addition to her parents, Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, John William Murphy; five siblings, Elsie Broadway, Edna McAfee, Frances (Nelson) Parker, Johanna Perry and Johnny H. Miller, Jr.
