Raymond Akers

Raymond L. Akers Sr. age 91, of Pleasant City, OH passed away Monday, July 13, 2026, at his home. He was born January 27, 1935 in Oak Hill, W.V., the son of the late Raymond Willis and Edith Ann Taylor Akers.

He enjoyed working outdoors, especially tending to his yard and hunting. He retired following 35 years of service from the BFGoodrich Chemical Company in Akron, OH.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife Evelyn M. Akers, whom he married July 19, 1952 and who passed away January 22, 2024; grandson John Raymond Akers and sister Janice Louise Hammonds.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children Suzanne Akers of Pleasant City, Raymond L. (Stella Hamilton) Akers Jr. of Sarahsville, OH, Tammy (Terry Chapman) Akers of Old Washington, OH, and Todd Akers of Pleasant City; six grandchildren Scott (Mary Buck) Akers, Tiffany Schwartz, Melissa Akers, Jessica (John Grewell) Akers, Ashley (Ryan Wallace) Cormany, and Travis (Skylar) Akers; nine great-grandchildren Kalli, Dominic, Vincent, Judson, Ariana, Johnathan, Lewis, Maverick, and Eleanor; several great-great-grandchildren; three godchildren Deborah Krukow, Billy Bower, and Sheri Fern.

Cremation will be observed with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 has been entrusted to care for the family.
