ZANESVILLE, OH – In an exciting collaboration, Urban Greens and Foodworks Alliance have teamed up with Central State University to launch an inspiring food and farm business series.

Ready, Set, Grow! is a ten-part series that is designed to guide participants through the essentials of successful small business practices in the food and agriculture sector. From beginners with a seed of an idea, to seasoned business owners looking to grow their skills further, this free program offers important insights into the industry.

“We have so much potential and all these people that can grow wonderful foods and create wonderful products that may not think of themselves as business owners. We might just give them the opportunity to think ‘oh yeah, I could turn this into a successful business.’ This is a skill and a service for my community,” Denise Natoli Brooks, Agriculture and Natural Resource Extension Educator at Central State University said.

Each class is held at Foodworks Alliance on Pinkerton Lane from 6 pm to 7:30 pm on select Tuesdays. The series will run through March of 2024, covering a wide range of topics for business success.

“We offer those classes free and especially the opportunity to develop a business plan and set people up for success. I think that’s just a really beautiful thing,” Betsy Rosser, Urban Agriculture and Education Specialist at Muskingum Soil and Water Conservation District said.
