Ready for Homecoming in Dresden
The Village of Dresden will be busy with activity for the rest of the week when Homecoming kicks off tomorrow night.
The annual parade starts at 6:30 and begins a Homecoming weekend full of rides, games and fun, that city officials hope brings lots of people to the village.
“Our economy is like it is in the whole nation, you know it’s really down and we’ve lost a lot of jobs in our area and we have some nice little quaint shops in our town,” says Mayor Bob Lane. “We welcome anybody to come and we have some real unique shops uptown here in Dresden,”
On Saturday the “May the World Dance 10K Walk/Run” will likely bring out hundred of runners and walkers to head down North Pointe Road.
The 10K trail begins at North Pointe Rx Fitness and takes participants down the road to the Dresden Swim Center.
“It’s an open road, you don’t have to deal with the cars, bicycles, dogs or anything. It’s beautiful and the village of Dresden is very beautiful so we want to get out here and support them a little bit more for homecoming,” says Phillip Arthur, professional health and fitness specialist.
Proceeds from the race will go to benefit the May the World Dance, Inc. child and adult obesity program, and the Secrest Auditorium Renovation Fund.
