Reagan Richardson Crowned Miss Muskingum Valley Outstanding Teen

Miss Heart of Ohio’s Outstanding Teen was crowned by Miss Ohio 2014 Wednesday.

It was like a Cinderella story. Reagan Richardson was supposed to be crowned at Orientation for Miss Ohio but her crown and sash were forgotten when it came time for the ceremony. The crowning was postponed to a later time and a break in busy schedules allowed both Miss Ohio, Mackenzie Bart, and Richardson to meet Wednesday. We had the chance to talk to Richardson who told us how she felt after receiving her honors.

"I am very excited, very nervous," said Richardson. "it’s kind of hitting me right now. It’s a little surreal."

Richardson said that her experience has allowed her to become more outgoing and break out of her shell. Richardson explained more about her platform and its significance to her.

"My platform is empowering STEM women. It’s all about promoting women in education fields of science, technology, engineering or math….its very important to me because I plan to be an engineer when I get older and I feel as if there aren’t enough women in STEM careers and we need to push that."

Richardson said she hopes to win scholarship money to attend college, meet more people like Miss Ohio and encourage others to be more outgoing and outspoken.
