Remembering Darrell Lear
Family and friends are paying their last respects to a longtime Zanesville School official.
Over 1,500 people attended the calling hours held for Darrell Lear at the Snouffer Funeral Home in Zanesville Tuesday evening.
After battling cancer for several months, Lear passed away at 63-years-old on January 1st at the Genesis Hospice Morrison House.
WHIZ spoke to family and friends about his life.
"I remember when he was a year old, that’s when we started knowing each other and it’s been a great privilege ever since," said James Fountain.
Fountain said that he was well-liked and loved helping others and was especially active in the community. Lear grew up on a farm and friends were always invited to come over and play.
"We grew up together, we always played, went out to their home, they had horses, we rode horses, just remember the family, they’re a great family," said Jamie German.
"I could remember when his sister Roxanne and I were little, him and his brothers would put us on an inner tube and bounce us to make us giggle, so he was always a crack up," said Tammy Wiseman.
The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the First Christian Church on Dresden Road in Zanesville.
