Remembering Mariah Williams

Family and friends remembered a life that ended too soon Wednesday evening.

Last year we told you about Mariah Williams who lost her battle to stage 3 brain cancer on October 26th of 2013. Wednesday, her family and friends celebrated what would have been her 18th birthday with a candlelight vigil. Mariah’s friends told us about her personality and her loyal nature. Breanna said,

"Mariah was just somebody that you could always go to and trust her with all your problems. She wouldn’t tell anybody and she would give you like the best advice. She was a great friend…she was like a really funny person, someone you could get along with, she got along with everybody"

Those present sang Mariah happy birthday and shared memories about the life she lived and what she meant to them. Family friend, Debbie Savage says the purpose of the vigil was to keep her memory alive.

"Today is Mariah’s 18th birthday. To try to help the family keep Mariah’s memory alive. We never want that to not happen "

Savage says that she knew Mariah would be happy to know about the gathering. The vigil began just before 8PM. It was held at Mariah’s family home.
