Reynoldsburg Man Sentenced in Drowning Case

Pruneau

A man from Reynoldsburg was sentenced to two years in prison following charges involving the death of a child in a swimming pool.

40-year-old Nicholas J. Pruneau appeared before Judge Mark Fleegle for sentencing for his crimes of felony charges of child endangerment, reckless homicide and misdemeanor child endangerment.

The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office said in October of 2023, law enforcement responded to an emergency call regarding a young child found unconscious in a swimming pool.

Authorities said, Preneau, the owner of a medical marijuana purchasing license had misused marijuana earlier that day and fell asleep while watching his children. Officials said during that time the child went outside, ended up in the swimming pool and drowned.

Pruneau admitted his crimes and pled guilty during a January 31 appearance in Common Pleas Court.
