Richard E. Hall Sr.

Richard Eugene Hall Sr., age 86, of Zanesville Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. After a short battle with cancer, the Lord called him home.
Richard was born on June 8, 1939, in Crooksville, Ohio, to Kinnaird A. Hall and Edna M. (Wilson) Hall. In his younger years, he lived in Williamstown, West Virginia, where he experienced the historic flood of 1939. He later moved to Cambridge, Ohio, where he met the love of his life, Betty. Following their marriage, Richard and Betty made their home in Zanesville, Ohio, where Richard worked for Essex Wire until retiring after a long and successful career.
Richard was a devoted Ohio State Buckeyes fan—Saturday afternoons in the fall always found him cheering on his team. He also had a deep love for travel, earning him the nickname “TravelingMan.” He especially cherished taking his family on vacations, whether to the beach or wherever their hearts desired. Above all, Richard was known as a kind, caring, and generous man, always ready to help family members in times of need.
Richard is survived by his sisters, Dolores Slosky and Donna Mossholder; his daughter, Debbie Hall of Zanesville; his sons, Richard (Shannon) Hall Jr. of Zanesville and Michael (Becky) Hall of Mansfield; his grandchildren, Seth (Jenny) Hall, Stephanie (Zevon) Papst, Heath (Sara) Hall, Elizabeth (Jesse) Turner, Zachary Hall, and Tessa Eblin; step-grandchildren Tiffany Blaz, Jonathan (Jaclyn) Ogg, Paige Wilson, and Misti (Christopher) Culler; numerous great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Marie (Kyser) Hall, whom he married on June 3, 1962; his great-grandson, Owen Hall; brothers-in-law David Slosky, John Mossholder, Paul “Skip” Kyser Jr., Jimmy Kyser, Donald Kyser, Paul Gibson, and William “Sonny” Kyser; and his sister-in-law, Jeanette Kyser.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Farus Funeral Home in New Concord. The family has asked that you wear your Ohio State Buckeyes gear if you want to. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Keith Taylor officiating. Richard will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery.
