Richard Evans

Richard A. Evans Jr., 89, passed away on April 9, 2026, at his residence in Roseville, Ohio, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on November 17, 1936, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Ricard F. and Esther (Smit) Evans, he lived a long and full life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and deep ties to the community he called home. For many years, Richard worked as a truck driver, a profession that suited his strong work ethic and his determination to keep moving forward. Even after decades on the road, he continued hauling until just a few years ago, a testament to both his stamina and his dedication. In addition to his work behind the wheel, he was also a former business owner of Alpine Pottery, a name well known in the Crooksville-Roseville area. Richard was also deeply involved in fraternal and Masonic organizations. He was a 172nd degree Mason, a member of the Doric Lodge of Deavertown, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Life Member, and a member of the Grotto. These affiliations were an important part of his life, and they reflected his commitment to fellowship, tradition, and service. Richard also contributed to our freedom by enlisting and serving in the United States Army. He valued the bonds of brotherhood and the sense of purpose that came from being part of organizations built on mutual respect and shared values. Above all, Richard cherished his family. He leaves behind four sons, Roger (Julie) Evans, Doug Evans, Roy (Janet) Cox, and Dave (Darlene) Cox. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Pam Ebert. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Erin (Sara) Compher, Amy (Shawn) Murtha, Mindy Evans, Danielle Woodard, DeAnn Rock, Brian (Catie) Cox, Dustin Cox, Lane Woodard, and Logan Woodard. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Willow, Canon, and Collins. He is also survived by his special Florida family, Shawn Horton and Angel Horton and family, who held a special place in his heart. He was preceded in death by his beloved first wife and the mother of his sons, Nellie (Cox) Evans, his second wife and the mother of his stepdaughter, Mary Jane Evans, his sisters Betty Lou and Mary Ann Garrett, his parents, and his special friends Barb Campbell and Wanda Dickinson. Calling hours will be held Sunday April 12, 2026, from 1pm-4pm at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 33 N. Main Street, Roseville, where funeral services will begin at 4pm with Pastor Daryl Hurst officiating.
