· Enlisted after High School (Belmont, Ohio) graduation in June 1956 into the U.S. Air Force
· 6 Wks Basic Training Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas
· Transferred (at the Air Force’s discretion) to Chanute Air Force Base near Rantoul, Illinois, for 6 months of Air Force Technical training to become an Aircraft Engine Mechanic. (That base is now decommissioned.)
· First assignment at Westover Air Force Base near Springfield, Mass., for 7 months.
· Transferred to Plattsburgh Air Force Base in Plattsburgh, New York, in August 1957.

· Job – Reciprocating Engine Mechanic for KC-97 (an inflight refueler tanker)
· At Plattsburgh until honorably discharged Sept. 28, 1962, as an A1C – Airman 1st Class
