Rick Spicer

Rick Charles Spicer, 72, of McConnelsville, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 30, 2026. Though unexpected by all, we know it did not take God by surprise.

Rick was born on October 17, 1953 in Zanesville, Ohio. Rick was a faithful friend, neighbor, father, grandfather, and husband.

Rick was an incredibly hard worker his whole life, and whether it was running a backhoe for the family business or a jackhammer in his maintenance position, his motto was Colossians 3:23: “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.”

After retirement, Rick spent his time working on his home, serving in the church, or he was off to see his grandchildren play ball. He also spent hours walking in the woods, enjoying God’s creation.

Rick is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara Spicer; his two boys and their wives, Treg and Carrie Spicer, and Eric and Courtney Spicer; brothers, Steve Spicer and Mike Spicer; sisters, Kathy Whitlock and Karla Renick; his six grandsons- Nash, Corbin, Coleman, Gage, Cade, and Brock Spicer; and two granddaughters- Cammie and Candice Spicer, they all loved their papaw, and his influence in their lives will be terribly missed.

Rick was preceded in death by his father Clyde Spicer, mother Barb Spicer, and his sister, Kim Spicer.

Rick’s life made an impact on people across the globe, and hundreds are mourning the loss of this dear man and servant of Christ. If you wish to show your respects to Rick and the family, the calling hours will be held from 4:00pm-8:00pm on Thursday, April 2, 2026, and at 10:00am on Friday, April 3, 2026 at the Roberts-Winegardener Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 3, 2026 at the funeral home and will be conducted by his son, Treg Spicer.

Burial will follow at the New Lexington Cemetery, New Lexington, Ohio.
