Rita Shaffer

Rita Mae Shaffer, 64, of Pleasant City, unexpectedly passed away Saturday (October 26, 2024) at her home.

She was born February 3, 1960 in Guernsey County, daughter of the late Mary Maxine (Knight) Shaffer.

A graduate of Meadowbrook High School, Rita retired from Encore after seventeen years of service.

She was an avid member of the Another World fan club. She was a collector of angels, cows, and movie memorabilia – including Adam 12. She loved chocolate. She loved her pets dearly, especially her dog, Gracie Mae, and her cat, Socks. Rita was “Mamaw” to many and treated all kids like they were her family.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Huntsman; and a brother, John Crosson.

Rita is survived by two brothers, Mark Shaffer of Byesville and Matt Shaffer of Lowell; two sisters, Dawn (& Charles) Harriman of Noble County and Pam Marple of Byesville; several nieces & nephews; and Bryan McElroy of Cambridge and David McElroy of Cambridge – boys that she raised as her own from a very early age.

No calling hours will be observed. No funeral services will be held at this time.
