Rivalry Renewed: Tri-Valley Looking for MVL Title, Consecutive Wins over Sheridan

DRESDEN, OH

Well it’s the biggest rivalry in the MVL, and has been over the last 20 years.

Sheridan and Tri-Valley are set to face off in their annual clash, and this week nine matchup has the MVL big school division title hanging in the balance.

Despite having a superior overall record this season, Tri-Valley sits second in the big school division standings at 3-0, having played one less league game than the Generals. Now this time a year ago, Tri-Valley came into this matchup as underdogs, knocking off then unbeaten Sheridan, 28-17.

But it’s a new year, a new matchup, and regardless of what has happened in previous outings between the rivals, for Tri-Valley, this game is just the biggest of the season with a little extra motivation to knock off Sheridan once again.

“It’s the biggest of the year because it’s the next one, it’s the one we play right now” said Tri-Valley head coach Cam West.

“We kind of focus, and I tell the kids every week, this is the biggest game of the year.”

West continued, “We’ve said it every single week. Obviously, at the point of the year we play Sheridan, it typically is for the MVL title and this year’s no different, so there’s a little more behind it.”

“I mean, every game’s important, but this game is always a good game. It’s a big rivalry, and it always has been for MVL championship odds, and I think it’s probably our biggest game of the year so far” said Tri-Valley senior quarterback Max Lyall.

Tri-Valley senior receiver Kade Hindel added, “It’s definitely one, we knew (Clinton) Massie was going to be good, physical. You know what they’re going to do, but this is obviously for the MVL title and pretty big stake on the line.”
