Robbery at Cambridge Speedway

The Cambridge Police Department said they’ve taken a suspect into custody that’s believed to be involved in a gas station robbery.

The incident took place just before 2:30 Saturday morning at the Speedway on East Wheeling Avenue.

Authorities said the clerk at the gas station reported that the suspect entered the store and demanded money while holding something tucked into his waistband, possibly a firearm.

The suspect fled with an undetermined amount of money.

Officers later found what’s believed to be the suspects clothing on Byesville Road. They then saw a vehicle driving away from the area on North Avenue.

When officers pulled behind the car the driver began to throw money out the passenger window. The car was stopped and the suspect taken into custody.
