Robert P. Greenwood (July 24, 1920 – December 11, 2015)

Robert P. Greenwood, 95, of Zanesville, OH, formally of Canton, OH went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 11, 2015, at Brookdale . He was born July 24, 1920 in Youngstown, OH, the son of the late Paul A and Grace A Greenwood. He was graduated from Case Western Reserve in 1942 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He then served in the US Navy as a Lieutenant on the U.S.S. carrier Kwajalein in the Pacific during WWII. While in the Navy he attended MIT. His love for his country endured throughout his life. Afterwards he worked for US Steel Works in Canton till he retired in 1980 as Plant Superintendent. Robert was a member of Simpson Methodist Church in Canton, OH and the Masonic Lodge for 60 years, where he was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite. Throughout his life he was an avid gardener, skilled woodworker, fisherman and lover of pets, especially their Sheltie dogs. His most beloved place on earth was Higgins Lake, Michigan where he met Sara A Grose whom he married in 1952. Together they shared many wonderful memories at the lake with family and friends over the years as well as traveling around the country in their motorhome. He is survived by one son, Paul W. Greenwood of Canton, OH and one daughter, Jane Phillips (Stephen) of Zanesville, OH; six grandchildren Sara Elaine Phillips, Kristin Michelle Smith (Joe), Michael Paul Phillips (Hallie), Grace, Erin and Gretchen Greenwood and two great grandchildren.
