Roberta R. Smith (August 5, 1925 – May 19, 2016)

Roberta Ruth Jones Smith, 90, of Zanesville, died at 6:15 A.M. on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at the Genesis Hospital. She was born August 5, 1925, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late William Ben and Grace E. Plumley Jones. She had worked as a Secretary for Dillon State Park for 15 years and was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children, Dick (Joyce) Smith of Zanesville, Jim (Deb Davis) Smith of Zanesville, Sue (Ray) Snyder of South Zanesville, Max Smith of Zanesville, Steve (Kim) Smith of Dresden, Gary Smith (Heather Browning) of Zanesville, and Cristi (Dave) Watson of Zanesville; eighteen grandchildren; forty-nine great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ronald E. “Gene” Smith, whom she married March 31, 1946, and who died in 2002; three brothers, Harold, Gerald and Donald Jones; a grandson B.J. Smith; and a daughter-in-law Amy Smith.

Friends and family may call from 3:00-5:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 23, 2016, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 400 Pleasant Grove Road, Zanesville, with Pastor Linda Morrow officiating. She will be laid to rest at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Zanesville.
