Rock the Test
Some local teachers turned into rock stars on Monday to help motivate their students.
An assembly was held at Adamsville Elementary School where students were treated to entertainment and games to help relax them before they take the Achievement Assessment Test coming up next week.
"The achievement test in Ohio is a pretty big deal, it gives schools the chance to show off what we have been doing all school year and gives kids the chance to show what they know," said 4th Grade Teacher Renee Ramsey.
"Test taking is very difficult for students and it helps them learn to relax and just helps them take pride in what they are learning," said 5th and 6th Grade Teacher Michelle Hill.
The teachers agree they see better results in their students when they make learning fun.
"Nobody wants to learn about something if they’re feeling tortured with it and so we try to make it as fun as we can, you remember things that are fun, they become inspiring, and you may see something else later and think oh yeah I remember doing that in school because it was a great time," said Ramsey.
Students from third grade through eighth grade are required to take the assessment.
