Rocking to the Top – One Vote at a Time

Walk down the steps and into the basement of this Zanesville home and you will hear Dick playing drums, Zach on the bass and Grant on guitar. They make up the band Obliged.

"Dick posted on my wall on Facebook that he knew I played guitar and I knew he played drums so he asked me to come over and jam with him a little bit " said Grant.

As long as the real world does not get in the way the band plans to continue playing together. They do play covers. Most of their music is by Grant and the words by Zach. Zach’s past relationships provide the inspiration.

The band will write and record a song in just one night other times it takes up to 3 weeks. After years of writing, rehearsing and weekend gigs to band has a shot at a record deal. A booking agent from Gorilla Records asked them to perform in a battle of the bands.

"It was pretty crazy awesome sound system; tons of people and we actually ended up winning the Columbus round. Which we were pretty stocked about because we didn’t think we’d win" said Dick.

They kept on winning. now they are in the top 100 out of 5,000 bands that started the competition. Their cds are available Amazon – they are on i-tunes. With success they just continue to jam!

"Basically we start out with this man down here in the jam room and just start jamming out a guitar rift and we kinda come in and just throw it all together" answers Dick.
