ZANESVILLE, OH – Ed Rodgers has been named the ArtCOZ Artist of the Month for October.

He began creating at a very early age and says he would wait just for the Sunday newspaper for the “Funny Papers” so he could draw the characters.

As he moved into high school he began to work with acrylic paint but then life got in the way and he took a long break from the art scene.

“I’m honored and humbled.” Rodgers said. “So I haven’t created in about 30 years and I just started back in January so when I was named Artist of the Month, I was really surprised and shocked.”

Just in time for the spooky season, Rodgers has created some haunting pieces sure to get you ready for Halloween.

He also shared some words of advice for any other artist that may be on the fence about getting back into creating.

“It’s just like riding a bicycle.” Rodgers said. “Once you have those skills and everything, it takes a little time to get back into the swing of things but I think just keep at it and always try to pursue your dream.”

Rodgers works will be on display from 5 to 8 PM at Ron Cole’s Aviation Art Gallery for the First Friday Artwalk.
