Route 40 Roadhouse Closes in January

A local restaurant is closing after seven years in business.
The Route 40 Roadhouse will close its doors for the last time on Jan. 23. Owner Marcia Sikora also owns Phil’s Seafood on Linden Ave. She said she’s sad to say goodbye to the eatery on west 40 but running two restaurants has proven to be too much for one person.
“I wish I didn’t have to do this but trying to run two restaurants for the past three years has been almost mind boggling,” said Sikora. “I can’t even believe I’ve made it this far. It’s just too much. I work and I work and I work and I work.”
Sikora has been in the restaurant business since she was a child. She said it’s the people she meets that makes the hard work running eateries worth it.
“My parents owned a bar back when I was growing up,” said Sikora. “I worked there. I went to college, worked at restaurants then. I did some other things but I always came back to restaurants because I love the work. ”
Phil’s Seafood will remain open. Sikora said closing the Roadhouse will give her time to focus on updating Phil’s and keeping it competitive with area chains.
