Run and benefit for cancer patient medical bills

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- There was a run benefit for Hope Smith at Zane’s Landing Park.

The run and benefit was to raise money to help with medical bills. Hope Smith’s mother Sally Smith says Hope went to the doctors because of nose bleeds and was feeling ill. That visit led to a diagnosis of Hope Smith having cancer.

“She ended up in March being told that she had stage 3 Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma,” said Sally Smith. “She was told it spread all through the neck, through her Lymph Nodes.”

Sally Smith says Hope finished her last session of chemotherapy last Tuesday and she has three radiations to finish.

“I’m excited to finish treatment,” said Hope Smith. “I have three left of radiation, and I’m pretty happy about it. It has been kicking my butt, throats sore, always tired, and always in pain.”
