MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- Starting Monday, WHIZ will no longer be airing The Rush Limbaugh Show on its AM 1240 radio station.

Rush Limbaugh was a radio personality and conservative political commentator. He passed away in February and since, his show has featured guest hosts. WHIZ’s contract with Premiere Networks ends tomorrow, which carries the Rush Limbaugh show. The company decided not to renew.

“We’re looking at different things we can do during that same time period, from 12 to 3, Monday through Friday. For right now, we’re going to be playing music but we are doing some focus groups to try and determine from our listener base what they might like and some new directions that we’ll need to go in,” WHIZ Radio Account Manager Jay Benson said.

Aside from Limbaugh’s show, the AM station airs other talk shows ranging from finance to home improvement. By far, Limbaugh’s show received the most listeners and had millions of listeners throughout the country.

“Last fall before it really spiked, he was averaging about 27 million in the course of a three hour time period and it went upwards to over 50 million people by the end of last year,” Benson said.

The station will be conducting focus groups over the next few months for interested listeners and viewers. If you are interested in being a part of the focus group you can contact Jay Benson at jbenson@whizmediagroup.com.
