Russell L. Metz (March 10, 1942 – March 30, 2011)

HILLIS & HARDWICK FUNERAL HOME OBIT:

Russell L. Metz, 69 of Zanesville , OH died Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at The Ohio State University Medical Center following a short illness.

He was born Tuesday, March 10, 1942 in Zanesville the son of Richard G. Metz and Irene F.(Maxwell) Metz. He was married on Saturday, May 21, 1966 to Nancy L. ( Quinn ) Metz .

Mr. Metz graduated from Zanesville High School, and retired from Newark Air Force Station/ Newark Air Force Base (Heath) in 1993. He earned the Silver Care Award at NAFS. He owned Metz Maxi Storage. He was an avid motorcyclist and had raced motorcycles in the past. He enjoyed his family and friends and was loved by many.

Russ is survived by his wife of the home; a daughter: Renee C. (James L.) Brennan of Zanesville; a son: Mark R. (Lisa D.) Metz of Zanesville; a brother: Roy L. Metz of Boca Raton Fl; 4 grandchildren: Joshua J. Brennan, Brandt R. Brennan, Bryant L. Brennan and Donovan R.E. Metz; a niece: Mindi (Metz) Perrotta of South Carolina and his beloved cat, Buddy-Buddy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Eric Metz.

Friends may call from 2 to 5pm with a Christian vigil at 4:45pm Sunday, April 3, 2011 at The Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue where funeral services will be held 10:30am, Monday, April 4th with Fr. Martin Ralko officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
