Ruth Thompson

Ruth Geraldine Thompson, 90, of Zanesville, Ohio transitioned to glory and had the greatest reunion with her husband, Cloyd and her savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 14, 2024, where her loving family accompanied her in the
comfort of her own home. She was the 5th and final daughter born to the late Ben and Meta Milstead. Ruth was a born and raised farm girl from Adamsville and held qualities very few in this life possess.
Ruth married the love of her life Cloyd D. Thompson on October 7, 1955. From that time, they created a life and love that most only ever dream about. They were inseparable, where you saw one you always saw the other. She began her life in the workforce at a very young age as a Nanny for many prominent families in the area during the early 1950s; from there she went to Eclipse Laundry, Essex Wire, Good Samaritan Hospital Linen Service, and Good Samaritan Hospital 4 West Rehab where she retired after 28 years of employment by Good Samaritan Hospital.
In Ruth’s selfless nature she chose an early retirement to babysit her grandchildren and great niece; during those years the best and most sacred memories were created. She was a member of Washington Township Baptist Church, where she began attending when she was just four years old. In her spare time, she could be found on her porch swing singing church hymns, at Colony Square Mall, eating at Bob Evans on Underwood Street, taking car rides with her daughter, taking adventures with her grandson, laughing, creating memories, and traveling around town for lunch with her granddaughter, Laura and great grandsons, Cooper and Connor, talking on the phone with friends and family, or her most recent hobby watching QVC. Above all things in life, her greatest joy and source of happiness was found in her family, and she loved them fiercely and with every fiber of her being.
Ruth is survived by her pride and joy, her two children: son, Randy Ray Thompson (Cindy); daughter, Karen Sue Jacolenne; son-in-law, Gary Jacolenne; three grandchildren whom she loved immensely: Chad (Toni Brooker) Jacolenne, Tia (Chad Goldsmith) Thompson, and Laura (Cody) Evans; three great grandchildren, who were equivalent to the sun to her and brought her so much joy and happiness: Kenley Thompson, Cooper Evans, and Connor Evans; and two step-grandchildren: Jay and Ranee Noce. Ruth had several nieces and nephews which, she greatly adored: very special nieces: Debra Corns and Donna Jean Meyers and very special nephews: Paul Bowers Jr., Larry Blackwood, and Charles Grubb. And last but certainly not least, her furry companions whom provided her so much company, her doggie, B, and her kitty cat, Smokie Joe.
Proceeding Ruth to Glory; her husband, Cloyd Dale Thompson; parents: Benjamin Hershel and Meta Bella Milstead; sisters: Ila Barkley and Vonda June Bowers; infant sisters, whom she never met but was never forgotten and kept close in her heart: Wava Marie Milstead and Beneta Isabel Milstead; daughter in law Dixie Thompson; and great grandson Baby Boy Evans.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Genesis Home Hospice, Kind Hands for Paws, or go out into the world and do a random act of kindness in Ruth’s precious name.
