Ruth Wagner

Ruth Marie Wagner, 79, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Ohio Health Hospice House on September 2, 2026. She was born on August 22, 1947, to Adolphus “Burton” Middleton and Dorothy (Stout) Middleton.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Gary L. Carson; her second husband, Joseph F. Wagner Jr.; and several siblings.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Trenia (Darrin) Crum, Gary (Heather) Carson, and Jennifer (Rob) Ballenger; grandchildren, Mason (Emily), Rachel (Chris), Sydney (Taylor), Riley (Lee), Austin (Sydney), Paige (Nate), Carson, and Addi; great-grandchildren, Zane, Archer, Vivian, and Weyland; as well as several other family members and friends.

Ruth was deeply loved by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and treasured the time she spent with them. She enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, especially the Christmas movies, and was a very involved and devoted member of Norval Park Church of Christ.

For many years, Ruth worked at JCPenney, where she became a familiar and beloved face in the community. Many people will remember her for the kindness and warmth she shared with those around her.

Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.

Per Ruth’s wishes, cremation has been chosen.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 11 am at Norval Park Church of Christ. Burial will follow in memorial park cemetery. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
