Ruth Wells

Ruth Ann (Baker) Wells age 90 passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2026 surrounded by family at Altercare Summit Acres, Caldwell. She was born on September 25, 1935 near Keithtown a daughter of the Late Milford O. and Hazel (Parrish) Baker.
On October 21, 1955 she married Paul L. Wells and went to housekeeping on their farm near Sharon where they resided until their retirement.
Ruth was a homemaker and raised their 5 children along with helping run the farm. She took great pride in her flower gardens, beautiful roses, and huge vegetable and potato garden. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and spending time with family.
Ruth was a member of Keith Community Church in Keithtown and later Sharon Presbyterian Church in Sharon. She was a longtime member of Sharon Grange and The Good Neighbors Quilt Club. She developed many close friends from these activities and cherished each of them.
Ruth is survived by her 5 children, Jake (Brenda) Wells of Caldwell, Frank Wells of Claysville, Janice (Stan) Archer of New Concord, Ernie (Tammy) Wells of Quaker City, and Barbara (Doug) Purdum of Cumberland.
Grandchildren: Christopher (Brooke) Wells, Jessica (Jonathon) Barnes, Michael (Shelly) Gibson, Brandi (Adam) Martin, Beth Ann (Christopher) Danford, Kenny (Sarah) Wells, Sarah (Brian) Herringshaw, James (Kate) Archer, Matthew (Jamie) Archer, Nicholas (Carly) Wells, Ashley Fecat, and Danielle (Ryan) Moore; 24 Great-Grandchildren; 8 Great-Great-Grandchildren; 1 Sister-in-law Mrs. Freda Baker of Belpre and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, Paul, 11 brothers Zail, Glen, Dana, Gene, Owen, Paul, Carl, Clay, Floyd, Dean, and Fred; 5 Brothers-in-law and several Sisters- in-law.
The family will receive friends for visitation Sunday, April 19, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and Monday, April 20, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will be held Monday, April 20, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Evangelist Brent Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Dudley Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Paul. Memorial contributions may be directed in her honor to the Dudley Cemetery, Sharon Cemetery Association, or Sharon Presbyterian Church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
