Samuel Allton

Samuel David “Shakes” Allton age 70 of Zanesville went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, September 29, 2025. Dave was born October 14, 1954 to the late Gerald and Margaret “Pearl” Allton. Dave was a proud member of The Dawg Pound and an avid fisherman.
Dave worked for many years at the village of South Zanesville and Muskingum County Home.
He is survived by his three daughters Carie and Matt Foster, Jessica and Michael Wheeler, Alicia “Lou” Allton, his grandchildren, Madison and Austin Knowlden, Mason Watts (Olivia Pfeifer), Macy Rose Allton (Andrew Diehl), and Cameron Wheeler. Dave’s greatest treasures in life were his great grandchildren, Averi, Wesli Wren and baby girl Watts, Foxx, Baylor and Graycie Knowlden, and Dayton Foster. Dave was blessed with bonus grandsons, Adam and Dalton who further blessed him with several other great grandchildren as well. Dave is also survived by his brother-in-law, Rod McCoy of Winchester, Indiana, and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Our family was always Dave’s number one priority followed closely by his canine companions, Lucy, Nonny, and Trey. Dave had several un-biological brothers, including Timmy, Terry, Phil, Rick, Steve, Eddie, Jeff and many others.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother’s Forrest and Gary, his sister’s Patty and Brenda, and great granddaughter Charlie Cate. Additionally, he has several un-biological brothers in heaven with him now, Tim “Hop,” and Terry. Dave held a special place in his heart for the mother of his girls, Teri.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. A loving cremation will take place. In lieu of flowers financial contributions can be made to the family.
