Samuel Robert Plummer passed away on April 24, 2026 at the Beckett House in New Concord. He was born June 25, 1956 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Robert Melton and Ella Emma Jean Walker Plummer. He graduated in 1974 from Zanesville High School. Sam worked at L.A. Emmert Heating & Air Conditioning after high school. Then he went to work for AEP at the Conesville Power Plant working in the maintenance department. After leaving AEP, Sam went to truck driving school and obtained his CDL Class A license with Hazmat endorsement. He drove truck for Auto Zone for over 25 years and had two million miles of safe driving. He also enjoyed collecting Route 66 memorabilia and took a trip on Route 66 last year. Sam was a member of Bloomfield Presbyterian Church.

He loved muscle cars and his pride and joy was his 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS. He purchased the Camaro in 1993 and completely restored it. He took his last ride in the car a few weeks before he passed. He was a good mechanic and did a lot of work on his families’ vehicles. Sam was a member of the Northeast Ohio Camaro Club (NEOCC) and enjoyed attending car shows, especially benefit car shows. He enjoyed attending drag races at National Trail Raceways in Newark, Ohio and Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. He was an avid West Virginia Mountaineer fan. He enjoyed sports having played baseball, football, and basketball. He coached and umpired boys’ baseball for Adamsville.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Johnson Plummer, whom he married on September 22, 1984 (Janet’s mother and father’s wedding anniversary); three children: Andrea S. (Jim) Clemens, Chad L. Mills, and Jason A. (Wanda) Plummer; a sister, Shela (Ric) Aldape; a brother, Toby (Debbie) Plummer; five grandchildren: Austin Tweedy, Dylan Tweedy, Jaycie Plummer, River Plummer and Clay Plummer; great-grandchildren, Jaxynn and Jersie Plummer; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4-7 on Monday April 27, 2026 and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday April 28, 2026 at 1 p.m. in the Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Tim Pollock officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at The James Cancer Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, the doctors and staff at the Genesis Cancer Center, and the staff at Shrivers Hospice, and the Beckett House all of whom took such good care of Sam.
