Sandra Hartley

Sandra Kay Hartley, 82 of South Zanesville died at 11:53 PM Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Cedar Hill Nursing Home following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born April 24, 1943, in Zanesville, Ohio, the daughter of Luther Floyd Taylor and Ruth Mae Elmore Taylor.

She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She was a dedicated sibling, taking care of her newborn sister Connie at the age of 14 during a family emergency and continued to be a pillar of support for her family throughout the years. She was a beloved aunt to two wayward nephews, often taking them in for entire weekends filled with trips to Blockbuster and the best fried ocean perch ever made. Words will never express what a truly wonderful person she was.

Sandra was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Stovertown, Ohio and Worked for 26 years for Dr. England’s Optometry Office.

She is survived by her son, Thomas W. Hartley Jr. (Melinda A Fuller); three grandchildren: Matthew J. Hartley (Samantha), Michelle L. Rosario (Aaron), and Melissa D Reuter (Jimmy); brother Jerry Taylor; sister Connie Taylor; niece: Donna Taylor; nephews: Dustin and Darrin Kreis, Keith and Andrew Taylor.

In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her siblings Freda Taylor Snell, Jack Taylor, and Bonnie Taylor Kreis. Her daughter-in-law, Marla K. Smith in 2019.

Graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Stovertown Ohio with Pastor Keith Taylor officiating.
