Saturday Hoops 1.8.11

History normally repeats itself, but tonight in front of a packed house at Winland Memorial Gymnasium, history reversed itself. The Zanesville Blue Devils improved to 8-2 with a 50-30 victory over the Tri-Valley Scotties, a near mirror image of the 47-30 Tri-Valley victory over the Blue Devils a year ago. The Dawgs scored the first bucket of the game, but it was all Zanesville from there. Tanner Gibson leading the Blue Devils with 16 points, Cole Carpenter behind him with 11 points and eight rebounds. For the Scotties, it was more about who didn’t score: Bryan Schley, coming into the game averaging 14 points a game, was held scoreless thanks to three early fouls in the first half. Zanesville next takes the floor against Massillon Jackson next Saturday night, while Tri-Valley heads to New Concord taking on John Glenn this coming Tuesday. Zanesville and Tri-Valley will meet again this year on Tuesday, February 15th.
