Saturday Hoops: No. 1 is Done
Before the game, Zanesville head coach Scott Aronhalt preached to his kids the motto that this Blue Devil team has lived by all season: Set the Tempo. In no game was it more important than the eleventh game of Zanesville’s year, against the defending Division I state champions, the Massillon Jackson Polar Bears. Coming into the game, Jackson was riding a 23 game winning streak, scoring 75 points a game in nine wins this season. Zanesville held them to 55 in a 58-55 victory, Jackson’s first loss in 24 games. Leading the way for the Blue Devils were Tanner Gibson and Rian Burrell both with 16 points, while Kade Haddox chipped in 10, a season high for the junior guard. Zanesville improves their record to 9-2, and will next step on the floor this coming Tuesday against Canal Winchester at Winland Memorial Gymnasium.
