Say Boo! to Hunger this Thursday
Trick or Treaters can give back Thursday.
The United Way and the Colony Square Mall are saying ‘Boo!’ to hunger. The United Way is asking for nonperishable food donations from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. that very same day the mall is hosting their annual trick or treat night. Community Impact Coordinator for the United Way in Muskingum, Morgan, and Perry County Becky Clawson said it provides the perfect opportunity to fill up your candy bag and to give back to a community in need.
“It’s been a really good way for the kids to learn about giving back to the community and really making it about showing how families can support other families and their neighbors here in the community,” said Clawson.
With over 400 people in need of food assistance in Muskingum, Morgan, and Perry County Clawson said every donation means one more hot meal for a struggling family in the local community.
“So what happens is our partners: Salvation Army or the Christ Table, will pick up the donations and distribute them here locally through pantries and hot meal programs,” said Clawson.
Again, the trick or treat is from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. If you’re not trick or treating you can stop by any time between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. to make your contribution to the United Way, located at the entry way of the mall.
