Scholarship deadline upcoming
ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Ohio State University Alumni Club of Muskingum County is giving scholarships away to current O.S.U. students.
The scholarship committee will review applications and award multiple O.S.U. students at least $600 in school scholarships. The deadline is January 31st. So, if you are interested in applying, you have to apply immediately. President Terry Kopchak said there are several requirements that need to be met to be given a scholarship.
“They have to have been enrolled in Ohio State for over a year at any of the campuses, have to have a 2.5 GPA in college or better. Have to be a graduate of Muskingum County High School,” said Kopchak.
Kopchak said at least four scholarships will be given away to upperclassman. O.S.U.A.C.M.C. started giving scholarships to upperclassman seven years ago. He said giving out scholarships allows the Alumni Club to give back to the community.
“Paying forward is the only way to go. For myself and our board members and a lot of the local alums who had a great experience with Ohio State University, I have two degrees from there, I go back every chance I get and its a deep pride and love for the university. So we want to pay forward and help students for are going to Ohio State now,” said Kopchak.
The Alumni Club also gives scholarships to high school students. Kopchak said the organization will be giving over $12,000. Students interested in applying can apply at the Scholarship Central Access Program at The Muskingum County Community Foundation.
