School Bus vs. Car Accident Investigated

The Highway Patrol is investigating a car-school bus accident. It happened around 3:30 p.m. on State Route 16 east of School House Road in Muskingum County. Initial reports indicate the car hit the back of the bus and one person was injured in the vehicle. The bus was from Mount Vernon City Schools and was transporting 9 freshman girl basketball players and their coach home from a tournament. They were not hurt. The driver of the car was transported for treatment of what are being called minor injures. The Highway Patrol says the driver of the car was cited with failure to maintain assured clear distance. The accident remains under investigation.
