School Clothing Giveaway

The first day back to school is about a month away, and the Salvation Army is ready to help families looking to get stocked up with school supplies and clothing.

It will be holding a School Clothing Giveaway on August 6th and 7th from 10 a.m to 3 p.m.

“We hope to be able to give at least five outfits to each child or each participant, and we are looking for a great turnout, ” says the Salvation Army’s Karen Walker.

Walker says those participating in the giveaway need to have ID available along with their Social Security Cards.

She says the piles of clothes has been growing,

“We have been collecting clothing all this year, and we have both used-gently used-and new clothing that we will be giving away. We still are accepting clothing donations, ” says Walker.

Walker says if you are looking to donate, don’t forget the undergarments, which the Salvation Army is in need of.

A school supply table also will be set up with pencils, notebooks, and book-bags.

Walker says the community’s support has been great, and people have been donating to a great cause.

“Because everyone deserves a new outfit for their first day at school, ” says Walker.
