South East Area Transit Celebrates ‘Ohio Loves Transit’ Week

Ohio Loves Transit 2022, Seat

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- Ohio loves transit and Ohio needs transit now, more than ever.

Public transportation has expanded throughout Ohio and so many people have benefited from the perks.

The South East Area Transit (SEAT) along with other rural transit agencies have celebrated ‘Ohio Loves Transit’ this past week, which acknowledges all the transit has done while showing appreciation to the customers all week.

According to Katie Price, Marketing and Media Coordinator for SEAT, they’ve conducted ride-along’s with people, passed out goody bags, did giveaways and some social media contests for free meals this past week.

“SEAT scheduled last year, I think it was 165,492 trips. So what that’s doing is helping people get to and from doctor’s appointments, it’s helping people who don’t have transportation get to and from work at a discounted rate,” Price said. “It’s helping people that are out in the cold right now be able to get around and stay warm for an hour or two to be able to ride the bus so to do that in the community and it’s continuing to grow.”

Price added that because of the expansion of transportation assistance, services are even starting to grow more for the Noble County area.

Today being the last day for Ohio Loves Transit Week for SEAT, they are providing free rides for in-county demand response trips until 6:00 p.m. and said there’s two more tickets left for a free meal, says Nicki Silver, Mobility Manager at SEAT

“When they come in today, we have all kinds of informational packets, we have the giveaways, we have goody bags so anything like that they can come in they’re going to get any information on any type of transportation provider within their counties,” Silver said.

Residents can also get the chance to share their testimonial when they stop by the transit center today, which will be shared on the Facebook page.
