Secrest Auditorium Hosts Free Concert For Children

Secrest Auditorium Hosts Free Concert For ChildrenZANESVILLE, Ohio- Secrest Auditorium had a packed house Monday.

Intersection Piano Trio played to a packed crowd. But this crowd is much different than the audience they played to Sunday night. The auditorium is filled with school aged children.

“It’s the last of our series of 4 concerts that the concert association presents every year to the community. Every year we do children’s concert and it funded by our foundation, the Zanesville Concert Association Foundation. As a gift to the community and as insuring a future for our concert association because the children are our future,” said Zanesville Concert Association President Janet Slack.

Slack said exposing children to the arts is vital to keeping the arts alive.

“Many of the of the kids come in so excited. All eyes looking around because of the chandeliers and the big auditorium. Many of them have never had a real concert experience before. And this gives their teachers a chance to teacher them about proper concert etiquette as well as exposing them to great music,” said Slack.

Slack said this free concert would not have been made possible without the support of the community.
