Semi Accident Closes WB I-70

The westbound lanes of I-70 are shut down after a five vehicle accident that included a semi tractor trailer.   First responders say the accident happened just east of Zanesville in the westbound lanes around 11:00 a.m. There is also a report of a fuel leak at the scene of the accident. No word yet on any injuries or how long the westbound lanes will be shut down.  Traffic is being rerouted onto US 40 westbound and that is also causing problems due to the very heavy traffic.   The Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency is on the scene of the accident to oversee the clean-up of the diesel spill from the semi.  The Zanesville Fire Department and the Highway Patrol are also on the scene of the accident.  E-M-A Director Jeff Jadwin says “it’s going to be awhile before the westbound lanes reopen.”
