Semi-Truck Rollover Accident

State Route 93 in Muskingum County was reduced to one lane for part of Wednesday after a semi-truck accident.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Wesley Archer said around 11 a.m. a semi-tractor trailer was traveling north on S.R. 93, when the driver went around a sharp turn and flipped on its side. More than 30,000 lbs. worth of aluminum coils were in the back of the truck.

"Eight separate coils, there’s four on a pallet and they all shifted towards the front when the semi flipped over to its side," said Trooper Wesley Archer.

In order for the towing company to bring the truck upright, they had to remove the coils with each one weighing around 4,000 lbs. The road was reduced to one lane while authorities worked to clear the scene. Trooper Archer said they often work with other agencies with accidents like this one.

"We get along real well with ODOT and the Muskingum County Sheriff was out here too and we get along with them real well too, they assist us whenever they can and we try to do the same for them," he said.

The commercial inspector of the State Highway Patrol was also on the scene to check the truck. Trooper Archer said the driver will be cited with failure to control. He did receive minor injuries but refused treatment.
