Sertoma Pancake Day kicks off Wednesday

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Tomorrow one of Zanesville’s most anticipated events will take over the Secrest Auditorium basement.

Sertoma’s annual all you can eat pancake day is back. A ticket gets you in the door and on your way to all you can eat pancakes. The meal is completed with sausage, milk, orange juice, or coffee. Last year the crew served about 3,900 people and expect to serve around the same this year. Chief Russell Taylor says it takes a lot of food to feed the crowd.

“It takes about 52 cases of pancake mix. Each case has 5-6, 5 pound boxes in it. We go through 400 and something gallons of milk. We go through 2,800 pints of milk. I think we’re somewhere around 100 gallons of orange juice. We go through 1,600 pounds of sausage.”

Sertoma is a service to mankind group. They help organizations with charity projects throughout Muskingum County. Proceeds from the event will go to the Sertoma Project Fund.

“We help local people or regional people out with hearing aids. It’s one of the main goals. If people financially can’t purchase a hearing aid they could come to us and…go through a process and end up getting approved for a hearing aid.”

The Pancake Day will kick off at 6 a.m. and run through 7 p.m.. Tickets are $7 in advance and $8 at the door.
