Servesafe Certification for Area Restaurants
Through a two day class, Muskingum County food services businesses and restaurants can stay close to get their Servesafe Certification.
FoodWorks Alliance, which is a division of the Muskingum County Business Incubator, offers the class to local businesses. Carol Humphreys, director of MCBI, said these businesses either have to go to Columbus or Cleveland to take the class.
There are over 1,100 food service outlets around Muskingum County. Humphreys said because of this, a local class is necessary.
“There’s a lot of people that need this information, and we’re proud to be able to do that,” Humphreys said. “It’s important to us for that to be a part of our programs here.”
FoodWorks offers the classes each month, and Humphreys said it’s of great benefit to both businesses and their customers.
“I think that would give them a lot more confidence that everything is being done properly,” she said. “We do hope that folks in the kitchen are preparing that meal to the best of their ability and it’s going to be tasting good and everything, but to know it is safely prepared and held at the proper temperatures and everything done properly is a good thing.”
The next monthly class is next Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Humphreys said it’s an intensive class that leaves businesses with a new Servesafe Certification.
