Settlers advance to semifinals
The Licking County Settlers defeated the Grand Lake Mariners 11-4 to advance to a 3-game series with the Lima Locos in the semifinal round of the Great Lakes Summer Collegeiate League tournament.
Licking County had a 2-0 lead going into the sixth inning, but put up seven runs in the sixth to take a 9-0 lead.
First baseman Kyle Hubbuch led the offensive attack for the Settlers going 2-4 with two home runs. Â Nate Schweers was the winning pitcher. Â Schweers gave up two runs in seven innings on the mound.
Game 1 against the Locos will be Wednesday at 7:05 in Lima, while game 2 will be held at Don Edwards Stadium.
