Shala N. Bare, 79, of Upper Arlington, formerly of White Cottage, passed away Monday, September 7, 2026, at The Oaks at Northpointe. She was born on February 12,1947 in Newark, Ohio, to the late Stanley and Frances Bare.

Shala lived an exciting life and built a career in the beauty and hair industry. She had a keen business sense and stayed current on trends and world events.

She was a wonderful conversationalist. Whether with friends or family, Shala could always be counted on for a lively discussion about political or social issues.

Shala valued true friendships and had too many friends to name personally. In every season of her life, she formed new and lasting friendships. In her early years, she looked forward to spending weekends in Zanesville, working alongside some of her dearest friends at the Katy-did and Kat’s Meow in Buchanan Square. She eventually built an impressive list of clients and great friends as a sales representative for Wella. In her later years, she embraced her beloved Trouville community and served on various committees to enrich the wonderful neighborhood she called home. Shala left a lasting impression everywhere she went and will be sadly missed by all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bennie Bare, and various relatives. She is survived by an aunt, Starla (Joe) Ansel, cousins, Pam Smith, Karessa Miller, John (Debbie) Foreman, Ron (Michelle) Foreman, and Julie Biles.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Wesley Union Cemetery, with Zachary Freeland officiating. Shala was under the care of her cousins, Julie Biles and Pam Smith, who extend their gratitude to Scioto Rehabilitation Nursing Home, The Oaks at Northpointe, and Genesis Hospice for the loving care and attention shown to Shala.
