Sheriff Held Press Conference Thursday About Deputy Zackary Smith

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Calling hours and funeral procession plans have been made for the 21-year-old Sheriff Deputy that was killed in a car accident yesterday.
Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz, held a press meeting Thursday
afternoon at the Sheriff’s Office. Lutz said it is a very difficult time
for everyone at the office and everyone has different ways of trying to
cope with a loss.
“I think everybody kind of does that on their own. I think they have
their own way of doing that. Some people will bury their heads in their
work. Some people need time away to clear their heads. Lean on people
that you trust and that you know,” said Lutz.
Lutz said it is a total tragedy for everyone involved.
“We have tragedies like this everyday, and just not with the
Sheriff’s Office. Families endure this and I think they find ways to get
through it and I think you learn that you never get over it, you just
learn to deal with it a little bit better everyday.”
Lutz said the calling hours are 6 to 8 Friday night, 10 to 12 on
Saturday morning followed by the service at noon at the Rolling Plains
Church.
